Workshop «Shaft alignment and dynamic balancing»
We invite technical specialists to participate in the training course on the topic «Shaft alignment and dynamic balancing» which will take place on 12-13 September, 2019 in Germany (Lubeck). The workshop is arranged for specialists in quality, service engineers, mechanics and power engineers who are responsible for the reliability of machines and industrial equipment.

Pump alignment

Pumps are critical elements in many production processes. Emergency failure of the pumps can lead to series problems and even to personnel injury.

To ensure long and reliable pump operation it is necessary to perform a periodical alignment check - determination and adjustment of two connected machines so that the rotational centers of the shafts are collinear. Many enterprises use various mechanical devices for the pump alignment. The measurement accuracy of such devices directly depends on a specialist’s skills and experience and takes enough much time because all the calculations have to be made manually. To ensure fast and reliable pump alignment BALTECH recommends using state-of-the-art laser and mechanical alignment systems. In 2013 year BALTECH launched a new alignment system BALTECH SA-4300. This system consists of two measuring units (digital indicators), display unit and special fixtures that allow taking precise measurements without errors due to uneven surfaces of shafts or half-couplings. This alignment system allows performing: horizontal shaft alignment by the clock method 9-0-3. In this case the operator can select between two alignment methods: rim and face method or reverse indicator method; soft foot check; vertical shaft alignment. Besides, as opposed to simple mechanical systems, BALTECH SA-4300 performs the on-line alignment. Therefore the operator doesn’t have to check the residual misalignment after every correction.

Depending on the pump rotation frequency the system automatically provides the permissible misalignment values and the color indication shows if the alignment procedure is required or not (green - good, yellow- warning, red- bad: alignment is required).

As opposed to laser systems, the mechanical BALTECH SA-4300 alignment system makes it possible to perform the alignment not only in shops but also outdoors, because it is unaffected by the sunlight and ambient temperature.

Some pump manufactures do not perform the alignment of pumps before their shipment therefore it is always necessary to check the alignment of both used and new pumps.

Another advantage of the BALTECH SA-4300 alignment system is that it allows performing the alignment of machine trains with up to 32 machines.

Thus, the mechanical alignment system BALTECH SA-4300 is the unique device which completely meets all the alignment requirements.
