Bearing pressing-in

Bearing installation is one of the main parts of the training seminars held by BALTECH. The bearing pressing-in is an important subject of the section “IORS Bearing mounting”. About 80% of defects due to incorrect bearing mounting occur when the bearing pressing- in is performed improperly: the installation force should not be transmitted through the rolling elements otherwise they will be pressed into the races which will result in the bearing damage. To ensure proper bearing pressing –in we recommend using the special bearing mounting tool kit BALTECH TOOLS. BALTECH TOOLS is a set of mounting rings and mandrels that allow uniformly transmitting the pressing force to both bearing rings and the bearing installation is performed properly, without deforming and damaging the bearing.

During the bearing installation on a shaft the installation force can be considerably reduced if you heat the bearing before its installation. The bearing heating should be performed with a temperature control. The bearing rings are considerably extended at the temperature from 90 to 110C°. The bearings should not be heated over 120 C° as it can lead to structural changes of the bearing steel. The induction heaters BALTECH HI-1630 Series are widely used in the industry in different countries. For medium- size bearings we recommend using the induction heater BALTECH HI-1610. It is strictly prohibited to heat the bearing before pressing-in with open fire or other methods as a local overheating of the bearing steel will lead to damage of rings during operation. It is not recommended to heat close bearings in oil bath, as in this case the oil replacement will be required after the bearing heating.
