Portable vibration meters

Every service company that performs maintenance of dynamic rotary machinery should have portable vibration meters.

How to avoid emergency situations without spending much money on powerful systems of diagnostics of the industrial equipment? The continuous monitoring of the machinery health will allow you to prevent the equipment critical condition. Among the main criteria of the machinery health condition are temperature, overall vibration level and impact values (if any) of the bearing rolling elements.

The overall vibration level (RMS- root-mean-square value), measured in the vibration velocity units, is a standard parameter specified in the ISO 10816 for evaluation of the machinery health condition. The portable vibration meters BALTECH VP-3410 are designed to perform the on-line and inexpensive vibration monitoring.

The vibration analysis based on the overall vibration level is the most common method of the vibration control due to its simplicity and affordability but unfortunately it’s inefficient for early detection of the machinery faults. Yet it is necessary to perform the periodical vibration monitoring once a month or more often. Increase of the vibration parameters in the overall vibration level trend can indicate a problem and necessity of conducting a serious vibration analysis with the modern vibration analyzers, e.g. BALTECH VP-3470.

According to the many years' experience of the BALTECH technical specialists the main sources of the increased vibration are unbalance and misalignment. Only 15% of all the increased vibration is caused by other defect types (bearing defect, improper lubrication, foundation problems). The vibration meters BALTECH VP-3410 and BALTECH VP-3470 allow you to easily make a diagnosis by measuring the overall vibration level in three directions: axial, horizontal and vertical. It is very easy to interpret the received data: the increased vibration in the axial direction indicates the misalignment condition, the increased vibration in the horizontal direction indicates unbalance, and the increased vibration in the vertical direction indicates the looseness of foundation or supports. To eliminate the unbalance on site we recommend using the portable vibration meter BALTECH VP-3470, and to correct the misalignment you can use BALTECH SA-4300.
